First Look at Ben Affleck as Batman

First Look at Ben Affleck as Batman

| On 05, Aug 2014

We are still less than two years away from the premiere of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, but the first leaked video from the set is driving new online speculation as to what exactly is the plot of the DC Comics/Warner Bros. mashup.

The new video from Samuel Otten’s YouTube channel reveals Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne on the set of Metropolis, the home city of Clark Kent/Superman. The interesting observation from the shaky cam video and montage of still shots is the notably grey hair on Affleck/Wayne’s temples.

Could Zak Snyder’s take on Batman be more aligned with the aging caped crusader in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight comic series? Ever since the announcement of Affleck will portray Batman in the Man of Steel sequel, an endless barrage of questions and criticism has floated online.

One of the most intriguing rumors is that Batman has been fighting criminals for almost 30 years, now with help of drones that he controls from the Batcave. Devin Faraci at Badass Digest claims their source is legit and claim:

“My sources indicate that when BvS opens, Batman has existed for close to 30 years, which would place Wayne in his 50s (which is why I expected more grey in Affleck’s hair). In this version Batman is still an urban legend, a creature of the night, and no one has ever taken his picture. But he’s had plenty of adventures, and the Batcave includes a memorial centered around a tattered Robin costume. “

Robin dead? Thirty years of fighting crime by the time Superman makes his first appearance on Earth? Drone attacks? This new take on Batman could pick up years after The Joker killed Robin in Death in the Family. These back-story elements may be incorporated into a standalone Affleck/Batman film including another take on The Joker.

For right now, Superman and Batman will have it out with Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) on May 6, 2016.
