NBC announced in March 2015 a revival of the comedy sitcom Coach, which ran for nine seasons (1989-1998) and 198 episodes. The series will see the return of star Craig T. Nelson reprising his role as Coach Hayden Fox, 18 years after the original season run. The show will run for 13 episodes and will focus on Coach Fox coming out of retirement and become assistant coach for his grown son, now the head coach of a new team at a Ivy League school in Pennsylvania. Coach creator Barry Kemp will write the series and serve as executive producers along with Nelson. The series is produced by Universal Television.
By early September 2015, NBC pulled the plug on a Coach reboot due to “creative differences between NBC and the producers.” As of now, only a pilot episode has been shot, and the series will be shopped to other networks.
