In what will be the eighth installment in the X-Men film series and the first since X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), the film stars second-time cinematic superhero Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern) as a Special Forces operative Wade Wilson, who is subjected in a scientific experiment leaving him with accelerated healing powers. Wilson adopts the alter ego of Deadpool, who is determined to find the man who changed his life.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

The sequel was greenlit by the time of Deadpool’s release. Tim Miller will return to direct and Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returning to write the script.
