Based on the 1996 film written and directed by the Coen Brothers, the FX series has been renewed for a ten-episode second season to air in 2015. 
 
The first season starred Billy Bob Thorton, Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks, Martin Freeman and Keith Carradine and won Emmy’s for Outstanding Miniseries, Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries (for Colin Bucksey) and Outstanding Casting for a Miniseries out of 18 Emmy nominations. 
 
Series creator and co-Executive Producer Noah Hawley has stated the new season will take place in 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and will focus on a younger version of Carradine’s character Lou Solverson and Tolman’s mother Molly. 
 
Season 2 is set to premiere on FX, October 2015
