The adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards take place seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in Hogwarts. Warner Bros. confirmed this adaptation will be the first in a trilogy. The second film will come out November 16, 2018 and the third installment on November 20, 2020.

Rowling tweeted an anagram “Cry, foe! Run amok! Fa awry! My wand won’t tolerate this nonsense!” in October 2014, referring  to the first Fantastic Beasts script. She later confirmed the anagram’s solution in a second tweet: “Newt only meant to stay in New York for a few hours. Circumstances ensured that he remained… for the length of a movie, anyway.”

Katherine Waterston is the daughter of Law & Order star Sam Waterston and will portray an American-based witch Tina (aka Porpentina) in 1920’s New York where she meets “magizoologist” Newt Scamander played by Eddie Redmayne during his quest tracking and documenting magical creatures.

On November 17, 2015, the UK set in Leavesden, Hertfordshire was severely damaged due to Storm Barney.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
The official plot summary:

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
The play will be told in two parts, and will premiere in London, England sometime in 2016.
