The New Wonder Woman: Gal Gadot

Israeli model and actress Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman in the upcoming “Man of Steel” sequel “Batman Vs. Superman” (or is it Superman Vs. Batman”?), a film that is slowly looking like a Justice League of America origins story. The former Miss Israel and Israeli army veteran, she is best known as Gisele Harabo in the “Fast and Furious” film series. She joins Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman) and Amy Adams (Lois Lane) for the 2015 release.
What is not clear is if Wonder Woman have a cameo or a featured role in the “Man of Steel” followup. Although the online reaction is not as harsh as Affleck’s casting announcement, the new Wonder Woman is being criticized from being too thin and/or small to play the Amazonian warrior to possibly being reduced to a supporting role to the two male leads. Sound familiar Avenger fans? But lets make this perfectly clear, Gadot is no damsel. The 28 year old 5’9″ actress is an avid motorcycle rider, a sports trainer in the Israel Defense Forces and is a mom to a 2 year old daughter, the hardest job on the planet.
Gadot owns a black 2006 Ducati Monster-S2R, 0-60 in 4 seconds with a top speed of 127mph
Outside the X-Men film series, there is a distinctive lack of strong female role models. Most of the superhero films center around muscular men and one sexy woman, more for eye candy than any real superpower. What should be different with the new Wonder Woman is she has muscle and powers that goes with her beauty. I am curious how director Zack Snyder will approach his style of slow-motion fight sequences with a woman and the overall development of a strong, independent feminine goddess. This is an interesting casting choice and I will have to re-watch the Fast and Furious films for a refresher on Gadot.
