DISTRIBUTOR: Walt Disney Motion Pictures A third Cars film was confirmed by Bob Iger at a Disney stockholder meeting in April 2014. No release date has been announced. The second Planes film met with mixed reviews and commercial failure. Although Planes was planned to be a trilogy, no release date has been announced. John Lasseter later revealed at the Toyko International Film Festival that Cars 3 will feature a tribute to Hayao Miyazaki’s 1979 animated film The Castle of Cagliostro with a French air-cooled car, the Citroën 2CV PREVIOUSLY RELEASED FILMS
