E.T. The Extra Terrestrial
Harrison Ford originally had a cameo in E.T.: THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL (1982), but director Steven Spielberg cut the scene from the movie as he didn’t want to show any faces of adults (except Elliott’s mother) until the end of the movie. This kept with the film being shown from a child's perspective. Ford played Elliot's school principal, questioning his motives of releasing the frogs during class. Ford then briefly calls Elliot's mother (Dee Wallace) to come pick her son up. Wallace's part of the phone conversation is in the film. During the scene, E.T. levitates something at Elliot's home, simultaneously causing Elliot to levitate when Ford's back is turned. Although you never clearly see Ford's face in the scene as its in shadows, you clearly recognize his voice. The only official copy of this scene is available on the out-of-print Laserdisc edition of E.T. Coincidentally, Ford's then wife Melissa Mathison was the screenwriter of E.T.
