Viewed by almost 20 million viewers including DVR playback since its premiere on the Disney Channel on July 31, 2015, making it the 5th most watched movie in cable history, the mighty mouse announced a sequel on October 15, 2015. Disney also released the movie via their WATCH Disney Channel app a few days prior to the July 31 premiere, and the musical was viewed by 3.3 million times, a record for the app. Most of the cast is expected to return for the sequel.
