Variety reported on September 30, 2015 that Paramount Pictures is developing a remake of classic Western The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. The 1962 black and white film starring John Wayne and James Stewart was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”. The remake may be set in a more contemporary period with the steel and auto industries amid 1980’s turmoil set as a backdrop.
