Wet Hot American Summer
Wet Hot American Summer was a romantic coming-of-age comedy released in 2001, centering around a Maine summer camp set in 1981 and spoofing the teen comedy’s of the 1980’s. The film had an ensemble cast, including Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Molly Shannon, Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, Michael Showalter (and various other members of MTV’s sketch comedy group The State), Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Zak Orth, and A. D. Miles.
The film was a commercial and critical failure, but gained a cult following. The entire cast reunited for an 8 episode prequel series, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp on Netflix that premiered on July 31, 2015, adding Jon Hamm, Jason Schwartzman, Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, “Weird Al” Yankovic and others to the cast.
